One of our principals from the school district where I was superintendent, recently returned from the Atlanta HOPE conference.
I used to be a principal when she was a 4th grade teacher for us and she was always a great instructional leader. I trust her judgment. She sent me this little paragraph about what the Atlanta HOPE conference did for her professionally.
HOPE Conference—Atlanta, Georgia
October 28-30, 2009
Submitted by Kris Woodard
I recently had the privilege of traveling to Atlanta, Georgia to attend a HOPE Conference. I had never attended one of their conferences before, although I have attended numerous conferences in the past put on by other organizations or companies. The HOPE Conference was definitely a stand out among those I have attended. The speakers were all outstanding. Each had their own message linked to the concept that “Failure is Not an Option”, but carrying their own unique message and strategies to help educators take “Failure is Not an Option” from the words we all know and believe in, to a reality. I am currently reviewing two of the books that were presented there to see how I can help my school overcome some obstacles that keep us from getting our students where they should be. The strategies presented were not just tools to use, but founded in research and statistics that give them viability when we present them to our staff. I enjoyed the positive message that was conveyed each day. The overall feel of the conference helped you to stay completely focused and anxious for the next session.
