Maggie Pagan - National PD/ELL Specialist

Maggie PaganMaggie Pagan is a National PD/ELL Specialist providing PD presentations and training nationwide. She has had extensive experience in the field of Second Language Acquisition; Literacy Development with ELLs and Multicultural Education. Her experiences include: PD Manager, National PD Consultant, ELL Specialist, Full time University Faculty and K-12 Classroom teacher.

While employed with the University of Central Florida, Maggie played a lead role in the development of the TESOL program for Undergraduate and Graduate programs in the College of Education. Prior to her tenure at UCF, Maggie dedicated over 20 years to the Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida. Although she began as a classroom teacher, Maggie eventually led a variety of major initiatives including Curriculum Compliance, Curriculum Resource Teacher, Extended Day Coordinator, and TESOL Trainer for the State Endorsement Courses.

Maggie holds a BA in Elementary Education, a M. Ed. in Exceptional Education and an Education Specialist degree in Multilingual/Multicultural Education. She is currently the president of her own PD Consulting Firm, Pagan Educational Associates, Inc., offering customized professional development services nationwide for districts, schools, teachers and leadership teams of grades K-12 who serve ELL/ESL populations.

In addition to keynoting at national and international conference, including the Department of Defense, Maggie has published several articles and chapters on the topic of working with English Language Learners, Cross-Cultural Communication, and Working Effectively with Newcomers. She has authored the following publications: Teaching Strategies to Engage English Language Learners in the General Education Classroom, Resource Kit and Handbook, International Center for Leadership in Education, Spring 2009, Leadership for Literacy for English Language Learners, Administrators Supporting Teachers, 2006 Harcourt Achieve, Inc.; Focus on Fluency Spanish Version, 2005 Rourke Classroom Resources, An Eclectic, Technology-Enriched Professional Development Model in ESOL Teacher Trainers, Journal of Educational Media & Library Sciences, September 2002.

 

Maggie lives in Orlando, Florida where she enjoys spending time with her children and grandkids.
